Ron and I became fast friends during the pandemic. He was quite ill even back then. His oxygen tank was close by at all times.
We talked a lot by phone or should I say, he did, as it was very hard for me to get a word in edgewise! The man liked to talk! Ha!
I remember him as being extremely comical, generous to a fault, intelligent, kind, and thoughtful. He was a religious man and became a preacher. He preached until throat cancer destroyed his vocal cords. Even after that he wouldn’t hesitate to pray for someone or with someone who needed it.
He was a huge fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team! He loved saying ROLLLLL TIDE on game day!
Ron was fun but he also had a very serious side. We didn’t always share the same views on things but we never let that spoil our friendship. (I think there’s something in that Bama water! lol)
Unfortunately, we lived far apart and never got to actually meet in person.
He loved his cat Gizmo! He always had a daily cat story at the ready.
He was a self taught computer guy. He loved owning the latest and greatest in computer equipment.
He had an unhealthy love and knowledge of everything Elvis! lol
He swears he could have recited any Andy Griffith Show episode word for word because he watched them over and over again nightly when he couldn’t sleep.
He was a great dad and a fabulous grandfather! He referred to them as his kiddos. He loved spoiling them on their birthdays and at Christmas time. They were his life!
He loved making videos of his family and friends. They all hold such loving memories that they’ll be able to treasure them forever. (Kath, I remember the video he made for you when you lost your son. It was so heartfelt! He was worried whether you’d like it or not. I assured him, you’d love it!)
He will be missed!
“Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.”

Ron,
You were a light in my life, and that light will never fade. I will treasure the memories of our friendship forever.
Rest in peace dear friend. You will never be forgotten.
Bonbon, I'm so sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences. May today be gentle and tomorrow a bit lighter.
Love, hugs, and prayers, Kitten!
