My newest western frontier eBook is called, An Orphan With A Destiny.

About This eBook

An Orphan With A Destiny by Raymond Cook is a 392-page western frontier orphan story set in Marble, Colorado in 1891. Herbert Grant and his wife Grace get a 160-acre homestead in a valley. Three years later, their daughter Katelyn is born. In 1900, due to conflicts between settlers and Indians, Herbert took his family to town because of the threat of an attack. Four days later, three tribes attack the town and burn it down.

Many children have lost their parents and are orphans, including Katelyn, who’s now six. Traumatized and in shock, she can’t remember her parents or her name. The orphans were taken to Redstone. A boarding house is converted into an orphanage and Katelyn is given the name Corin. Eight months later, a couple from Carbondale adopts Corin but they aren’t kind to her, and she runs away.

Corin joins the ranks of many other orphan boys and girls of all ages, struggling to find work, beg for money, find a place to sleep or pause to drink water from a water trough. A one-armed orphan girl named Debbie takes her under her wing. Years later, Corin will watch her friend murdered, and she’s all alone again. An elderly woman named Mary Ellen Woods adopted Corin when she was ten, and she began to live a normal life. Before Corin’s eighteenth birthday though, Mary dies.

Mary’s dying wish was for Corin to return to Marble, try to find out who her parents were, and what her birth name was. The town’s sheriff helps her find out where her family once lived and her name, Katelyn Audrey Grant. After Katelyn returns to Carbondale and steps off the train, she sees something odd. Not one orphan is seen on the street. She learns nine orphans have been murdered. She vows to use herself as bait, to lure the murderer out into the open. Without her knowing though, the killer’s now stalking her to make her his next victim.

This is my 29th of 29 western frontier eBooks I have written since 2011.

I like to garden, volunteer and help those I can help physically as my back allows. I love my country, its values and how I was raised. I definitely am NOT a Liberal Voter. I believe in hard work and wish I could be able to work. I don't let my back stop me from doing things, the discomfort is only temporary. The key to happiness for me is to see my glass as being "half full, not half empty." I ask little of anyone and in return, no one lets me down. I am happier in a small town rather than a big city.

I'm very health minded. I like  a variety of music from country, to soft rock, soft jazz, celtic and native american music or whale songs. I am a laid back easy going person. Friends believe that my sense of humor is my best quality. Life is too short to lose your smile. I like a low stress life. I like yard sales, swap meets, rodeos and fairs, I like gardening and cats and dogs if they are not attacking me.

I love children and those photos of children in my profile are of my best friends 4 grand children in Washington State that I go to visit twice a year.

Hunting, fishing, gardening and writing. My favorite movies are: "What About Bob?", Stir Crazy, The Three Stooges, "Titanic", "The Blues Brothers", "50 First Dates" and "True Grit".

"Tina Turner said it best: 'What's love got to do with it?' Newlyweds should know that love may bring you together, but it may not be enough to keep you together. Marriage requires skills like communication, decision making, conflict resolution, listening, coaching, leadership, and negotiation to name a few. Some marriages end because people fall out of love. Many end because it takes hard work to be married, which most people are not prepared for. When the fantasy falls short after the honeymoon and the reality sun rises — that's what newlyweds need to prepare for. Don't be afraid of the storm clouds that inevitably move in and out of marriage. Laugh, show empathy, grow from your mistakes, forgive each other and remember there is no such thing as a perfect marriage."

My Personal Opinion....

When couples stop making affection an important part of their marriage, stress grows. When a man won’t satisfy his wife out of stubbornness or a wife deprives her husband of affection, anger grows too. But if a woman tells her husband, ‘My body is yours to enjoy and spoil,’ she’s telling him she loves him. Making love shares an important message. It means I love you with all of my heart. Your happiness is important. I want to share my life beside you through the good times and the hard times. Just treat me gentle, speak with kindness, make me laugh, hold me if I feel sad, never deny me your touch, kiss or your arms. Whisper I’m loved not because you have to but because you want to. Show me with all you do, not just with words that you can’t live without me,”
