Buzzen's policy is not really their choice. Their advertisers are forcing them to keep images to PG rating in order to keep the very advertisers that pay for Buzzen. The policy is only for images. They also could have just done away with profile images and albums all together, instead they are willing to continue to allow it even though it means more work for them to go through photos.

Freedom of speech doesn't even apply here. Freedom of speech (something that not even everyone who chats on Buzzen, has such a luxury of in their countries) is about the government jailing and prosecuting for what you say. Just like being fired from a job, or kicked out of a store for saying things....does not mean your Freedom of speech was violated.

Does it stink that they have to control images so much, yes. Is some of the restrictions ridiculous, yes. But even those who run Buzzen will say they don't like it. However, they have to keep the advertisers happy. Unless of course you would rather Buzzen shut down all operation due to not having the funding to keep it going, or become another pay to chat site.

Dark is right. It wasn't our choice. We had to do it in order to continue to be supported by our advertisers. As stated we don't agree with the new policy and we don't like it but we have to enforce it. We are sorry you don't agree with it but it's part of doing business with advertisers. The pictures have to be monitored manually by staff. We are currently short staffed. We are doing the best we can. We apologize if you feel that isn't enough.

The reason we have "adult" based rooms is because even while the content is adult it's not presented in search results as so. Pictures get logged by search engines and show to the public. Our advertisers state we must have safe search results. Meaning pictures should be appropriate for all ages. A lot of the pictures violate that policy according to the advertisers. So as you can see a chatroom being adult rated and the pictures on buzzen are treated differently by advertisers.

We are trying to figure out ways to make our users happy. We work harder than any other chat network on trying to give our users what they want. But you also have to understand the bills have to be paid. We haven't given up on this subject. We are looking in to other ways in which to allow more adult ( non pornographic ) images without upsetting our advertisers.

We have a warning system. We have a support ticket system and helpdesk. A user is informed about any image that violates the new policy.. We don't just ban people for it. They get plenty of warning and as always users are welcome to discuss the matter with us, which we encourage rather than to post something lacking facts.

i can only speak for myself when i say this but honestly i dont have a problem with the picture restriction. i am grateful that there are still sites such as this that are free for us to use and i commend the staff for working as hard as they do being understaffed. As far as freedom of speech...ultimately there is no complete freedom of speech anywhere in the world, ol or otherwise. Rules change in life, just as they do ol and people can accept those as a part of life, or they have the option

of going else where. Sometimes things in life do not always seem fair but such is how things go. we just have to learn to adapt to changes as they come along or move on. Having supporters, advertisers comes with a price some times. It was not their choice to make but they are doing the best they can with what they have been handed. I hope they continue with the hard work they have been doing so that we may enjoy coming here for many years to come.

There seems to be a common theme to pass this off to the advertisers, well Buzzen is not totally free they do charge for BSR rooms, they accept donations but do not divulge how much they make in "donations" As to err0r do you realize what you are encouraging? People to rat and snitch on each other. You guys are born into a generation that never fought for anything so you are all too willing to give up freedoms and privacy, you guys have no clue as to what it means to die face down in the mud

I'm encouraging people to help keep buzzen available for all the people that wish to use the service. I am a U.S. Marine that served during the Gulf War. Again you are assuming facts that simply are not true. I am also a volunteer on Buzzen. I have no idea what Buzzen makes. I simply work to keep Buzzen going. We received a letter from our advertisers saying we were violating their polices in regards to some images on our site uploaded by users. The BSR room fees ( which i think are too high )

Only cover a small portion of the overall costs of Buzzen. Without the advertisers the owner would be forced to pay for Buzzen himself. Speaking of fair, do you think that is fair. That the business the owner started should not make money because you don't agree with a policy? Talk about freedom. Isn't capitalism the ultimate freedom?

As for passing off. We only instituted the policy when we were forced to. We admitted we don't like it and are looking for alternate means. I understand you are upset but you are simply making things up that are not true and frankly being unrealistic about how the world works.

I can understand the public pictures that can be viewed taken down, but people go into the private pictures as well that cannot be seen by anyone except for friends and take those down to which totally confuses me considering that if their private why are people looking at them?

How are they encouraging people to rat and snitch? Every profile, blog and image has a "report" link. This has been the case before the new image policy was in place. Many, if not all, social sites have such systems in place. Can it be abused, yes, but that does not mean they should not be there. Do you even understand the costs that go into running a site like Buzzen?

Once again, "freedom" doesn't even apply here. All sites that you interact with more than just clicking pages, have their own terms and conditions. Whether it is Buzzen, Facebook, Photobucket, Amazon, etc. Anyone using free hosting for websites or forum boards, also have to follow the hosts rules or their stuff is deleted. This is nothing new in the internet world.

sassy - I admit, I don't fully understand how things work, but my guess is that even images inside private folders, can be picked up by search engines. Buzzen is responsible or the content posted on Buzzen....even those inside private albums and blogs.

I guess I'm just a bit confused on how a search engine can find a photo that is marked private that other people on the same website cannot even see... But I guess it doesn't matter considering that there is always Tumblr and they don't restrict you in any way shape or form

I've stated this before in another post but only high level staff have access to view non public albums. They have all signed a non-disclosure agreement and have their id on file with the owner. The reason is because as the end user you control whether you make it public or private. You make make the album private then decide to make it public and the image gets indexed and we get in trouble for it. So until we get a better system the rules apply to all images. As i stated we are looking into

other options. I can only ask that the users give the staff the benefit of the doubt. Why would we purposely try to upset our users that we work so hard for? Why would I bother to update you all if the staff had a "we don't care about our users" mentality. We do care. We don't want to see buzzen closed just because of some pictures. I would hope the users would feel the same.

The AdSense network is considered family-safe, which means that publishers aren't permitted to place Google ads on sites which contain pornography, adult, or mature content.
