I have recently been asked My opinion on something that has been a subject of debate as long as there has been gorean Roleplay. Recently on Buzzen something happened in the Medical caste that has caused an uproar and it seems it is comoing back around. I thought thte subject had been closed and People had moved on. So Let Me put a light on things in a general sense and put it out here for all to know My opinion.
While I feel it is important to follow the ways of the books I see them as more of a Guide not a bible. I guide says this is how things were or were not. It is up to us as roleplayers to fill in the blanks. For example.: Thre Were slaves, Laws stating all Free could punish any slave that displeased them , tarns that fly carrying People and stuff. and there wwas Not: a cure for Ost poisiong or Dar Kosis, dogs, Guns, horses. anything else was a possiblity as they did say that earth and Gor were so similar that the plant and animal life were simmilar. THere is NOT a full list of plants and animals for the books .. John Never Made one, His books were not meant to be used for a Roleplay they were mean for the enjoyment of science Fiction fans.
so do I belive that a Phy can make cures for things.. Yes and NO. I belive theyh can experiment and try and for some things yes but for the Ost poisioning and Darkosis No there is never to be one. Do I belive there are panda bears on gor.. Perhaps if there was a place on gor that was like thier home on earth.. though they may not be called pandas..Do I belive there will be dogs on gor.. No but that dont mean they would not have a cousin suh as a fox or wolf on gor.. We need to be creative while staying with on the boundries of the books.
