It is among the most mendacious things one could possibly do to them, for it offers no respect, and no hope. If you want to help the poor you have to do what the left finds unthinkable. You have to help only those who are incapable of helping themselves, or working to improve themselves. Abraham Lincoln, a very caring and moral man himself, wrote a letter to his step-brother which is so brilliant about just this issue. But because he refuses to aid his step-brother, who is a layabout, the left in America would likely despise Lincoln for his sentiments.
