I spent the past week or so reading blogs just to see what people think and write about. I came across one that talked about RP and about how people need to take 2 weeks away before starting a new character. On the surface it makes sense and I understand the reasoning behind it but then I started to wonder. Does that wipe their slate clean?
A hypothetical situation to think about...a person plays a character who lies, cheats, steals and hurts others to the point they are most likely very well hated by most in their genre of rp. Now for whatever reason, they choose to end that character and do the two weeks away. They return to the same genre, new character and such and ends up interacting with the same people they previously ruined and they are not aware of it. What happens when those people find out that persons past because we all know most cant leave well enough alone. Do they simply say the slate remains clean and the past is the past or do they share it with others and the black listing continues for that person for their past behaviour.
I am writing this simply out of curiousity and how it works. Are people being honest about letting the past go and letting people change or is that just a rule no one truly follows. Does it affect any future rp encounters with them or is their new character simply accepted.
I am leaving comments closed not because I am afraid of what might be said but I do not wish for people to start causing drama over it when there does not need to be. It is just something to think about. I do not RP anymore and have not in a long time so it really has no bearing on me nor will it affect my time here. If this gets anyones panties in a twist over this ...well that says something for sure doesnt it.
