kennel, and moves into the kitchen, where she drinks water. Then she knows her duties, which call her name on this day.

Walking out the back and down to the shed, she walks to the side and lowers the wagon handles, which she will need to gather the necessary items. Walking into the dark shed, she moves to the far side and bends down, pulling out a tin of paint acquired from the tuchuk supply wagon, a bright red color attracting the vulo.  Next, she walks to the side, pulls out a bale of hay, places it in the wagon, then backs in and gets a stick, a piece of leather, and a handful of vermiculite wool.

Taking the supplies out, she wraps the wool around one end of the stick, securing it with the leather, and ties it carefully. She smiles at her handiwork creating a paintbrush. Next, she gets a few planks of trimmed wood and a bucket to take out the old hay, a rake, a new water trough, a bag of seed, and another basket. After placing all the items into the wagon, she gets in the front and begins to pull the weighted load up to the gate at the fence,

then lowers the front down to the ground. Next, she picks up the rake and sets it inside the yard, takes the fresh bale of hay, hoists it over the fence, and drops it beside the rake. She picks up the makeshift paint brush and tin of paint, carries them through the gate, and sets them down, then returns to the wagon to get the egg basket and places it down while she hooks the gate securely once again.

looking at the activity of the birds climbing into their hutch and back out. As she walks closer, they scatter and scamper to escape her. She walks with the rake over to the hay in front of the hutch and begins to rake it into a pile near the fence. Once that task is completed, she places the rake against the wall and walks over to the tin of paint and

She pries off the lid and carries it over to the front of the hutch, where she starts in the room and makes long strokes of the red paint down to the ground, then back up in a long stroke to the top, covering the wood with a thick coat of paint. She continues with the long vertical strokes until the entire front of the hutch is covered, and she smiles, looking at how the bright red paint reflects the bright sunlight.

She carries over the tin of paint and brush and lays it down near the gate. Next, she picks up the egg basket and carries it to the side of the hutch. She begins to gather the eggs from the nests and carefully places them in the basket.

Once all the eggs are gathered, she takes the basket and places it beside the gate. She takes the rake inside the hutch and moves out the used hay. She piles it beside the fence next to the other raked used hay. She then walks over to the wall, picks up the new hay bale, and spreads it around the front of the hutch. She then takes the remaining hay and spreads it inside the hutch.

Next, she takes the new troth and pulls it to the front of the hutch, a safe distance away from the freshly painted wood. She then dumps the bag of feed into it, and the birds come scrambling out to investigate the sounds. They appear anxious to get to the new feed. Last, she takes the plank of wood and replaces the old plank that the birds walked up into the hutch.

She walks over to the piles of used hay, gathers it, and throws it over the fence into the bosk pasture, as the large beasts eat most things. She then takes the rake over to the gate, lifts it over the wall, picks up the tin and brushes, and then opens it. She sets the egg basket outside the gate and then turns to secure the gate. She leaves the basket by the gate as she gathers all the tools and places them in the wagon,

which she pulls down to the shed, where she replaces all the items and stands the wagon up against the side of the shed. Closing the door, she walks down to the running stream, washes off, washes her hair with the soft sand of the riverbed, then rinses it. Standing at the rivers edge she washes each egg then places them in the basket on the clean rep cloth. She shivers as she walks out of the river and walks up to the gate, where she gathers the basket and carries it to the back of the kitchen.

She walks into the room and over to the cold room, where she pulls on the door handle, and the chilled air rushes out. She walks Har ta into the room and places the basket on the counter, then stacks the fresh eggs into a bowl on the counter. Then she turns and scampers out of the chilled room, with basket in hand, and pushes the door closed as she leaves.

Looking around the kitchen, she realizes the next chore she must complete.
