My Home is and has always been open to all roleplay scenarios within the bounds of what is Gor. The question there being, is My Gor Your Gor or His Gor or even Her Gor? My circus, My monkey? Judas, I would agree with you. Having been brought up in book-Gor ways from the days of MSN, I remember a time when just entering a Gorean room would make my heart race. A person knew their boundaries, and they also knew the consequences for stepping outside them, but that's what made it so adventuresome. Gor in the books was a place of relative unrest if you think about it (otherwise, what reason would Tarl have to save the world?). (continued in next post)

Yet, in online Gor, there's so much peacefulness that evenings in many homes are spent sitting by the fire drinking. I do not drink in real life, yet I do know if I wanted to get drunk I would do it in real time because I'd have more fun doing it. Goreans, if they truly existed, would decry this kind of life. Homes and individuals don't interact as you've pointed out, and so much Earth culture has invaded this world, creating a level of Gor that is even less than mediocre, and yet there are still some of us old-Goreans about trying to uphold the standard. I, for one, would welcome a Gor where men reminded me I'm free because they allow it. I shall be perfectly clear...I don't give two rats asses what anyone in the imaginary world of Gor thinks of Me or My way of doing things, I'm not here to be told how to think or act, and so I won't be. I don't tell any of you how to live, thats not why I'm here either. The fact is not everyone here uses all 33 books as a complete work to define Gor. Most people choose one or two books and say "This is my type Gor." That's the same as using the first twelve letters of the alphabet.

If the person was killed for valid reasons and the rules of the home you were in were followed, then why the issues. Judas runs his home. He knows what the woman (Slave) did or didn't do. If you feel secure in your home, then stay in your home. Others who want to interact will come to you. If not you will be alone. No one controls my character but me the r/per behind the screen. No one controls yours either. You either accept or don't. Pretty easy. Having come from a high percentage "visual" realm where roleplay is seen more than heard in many forms, what I have seen so far here on Buzzen comes from those very people that are being ill spoken of in this thread. As wisely spoken by the Lady Shainaa, good job r/players and poor show those who judge solely on language used. I come to online to have fun and amusing adventures. Its an escape for me from the pressures of a very demanding real life. Intelligence is not shown simply by using fancy words. My IQ is 155, but i do not have the need to shout about it on a blog. Typing skills do not necessarily mean you are smart. Even monkeys can be taught to use a typewriter. Do what you will in No Zones, keeping in mind Gorean standards and possibilities for your station and gender, and the penalties for violating them. Do what you are able in Safe Zones, keeping the same in mind as above. Behaving in a Gorean fashion is a matter unrelated to the zoning of the room one happens to run or be in, and is not inextricably tied to participating in cyber combat.

I can't see Manon's posts. And yes I know why. This is my first blog post! Yay me! It used to be that time away was 30 days. This gave the player time to get over themselves after their loss of time and emotional investment in a character they loved. It was also meant to allow said person time to choose a new Caste, name and background, and other small details necessary for new character development. When you enter a room you agree to the rules in the topic, and the unwritten ones too.

Yeah, I find it interesting that posting OOC in a blog would restart the time away clock, as the person is neither role-playing or entering into a Gor room. It seems a failure to separate the individual from the character portrayed which one would think role-play standards would be fairly keen on keeping conceptually divided. So, essentially, such a restart doesn't make much sense from a role-play point of view.

However, when a person is doing time away, they should not A) enter into Gorean Role play and B) should not present their "new" or "future" character until time away is up. When a person becomes part of a Home, they also agree to the rules of that Home.

It was also intended to allow a fresh start so that the person returning could remain hopefully anonymous. So that possibly the new character would return free of any past. In my opinion time away means just that - away. Let's be real here - the character that got killed is not NPC. Without an OOC human behind the character, it does not exist - they are one in the same, they should both do time away. Since this is the pervading opinion of most who r/p here (also evidenced by this discussion) the way I see it "Arya" has a choice: She can do what's expected by doing true time away - or she can latch on to the lone dissenter and do as she pleases.

If the OOC player and the IC character are one in the same, there is no point in distinguishing the two, and yet the are often seen as apart. For them to be separate entities at all other times except when the character happens to expire, and only then to be considered to be one in the same, is an inconsitency that has no particular merit outside of role-play rooms. That such an inconsitency happens to appeal to a majority that role-play here, or so it is claimed, does in no way eliminate it.

Yes, it is funny that how one behaves OOC often directly affects how one is treated IC. Funny in a sort of a dark humour way, in that it is amusing that while the separation of player and character is often raised as a standard of role-play Gor in concept it is almost as often ignored in practice.

A standard which made Gorean role play different from others, over the years, is now quite often ignored. The philosophies expressed in the Gorean books have nothing to do with the contrived standards of online Gorean role-play, though adherring to them could be said to be so. But, the existance of a standard says nothing of the merit of it, no matter how long it has been so. However, within the context of the vast majority following the standard and actually giving those that spend time away a new start it would be fine enough. As such it may as well be maintained, in hope for a future it is so.

Warren does not role play , but He sits and criticizes Us that do, What ever You do in life has rules and guidelines, and online Gor is No different. Now Warren as the only true Gorean that has ever existed even thou Gor is fictional, will consistently come and try to belittle online Gor for those of Us that enjoy it. Heh, I role-played in GCN and will do so here, when I am ready to. Gor is indeed a collection of fiction, but much of the philosophies expressed within, that part of Gor that I find most interesting, are based on real world philosophies adapted by Norman. This alone makes most of the ideas presented in Gor adaptable to the real world. I am by no means the only one that understands that. As for belittling online Gor, I do not. However, some of it I don't care much about, which niggles some.
